Open Tables is a street ministry that works with those most in need of a friendly face and a helping hand. We focus our efforts on the homeless and destitute. Unlike mainstream charities that offer support to the poor, Open Tables takes our assistance directly to the underprivileged in the forms of weekly meals and practical support delivered close to where they live. Their needs may be as simple as a trip to the doctor or as complex as obtaining government disability or Medicaid.

Our goal is to show these brothers and sisters in Christ His love in a practical and functional way. We make no demands. We encourage them to live a sober and drug-free life style, but we do not condition our assistance on one. The Open Tables Ministry is a work in progress, changing and reinventing itself as the needs and composition of our homeless congregation change. Join us. Rougemont UMC is blessed to have a very active Prayer Shawl Ministry. This Ministry, started in January 2006, has served many since its inception by allowing us to share prayers and God’s love in a real, and tangible way. These shawls serve to remind the recipient of God’s love for them by imagining God’s arms around them as they wrap the shawl around themselves. Prayers are said for the recipient as the shawl is being knitted or crocheted. After the shawls are completed, they are blessed at a monthly meeting. For information about this ministry, call Ann Robinson at 336-364-8489, or Margaret O’Briant at 919-477-3262

Meeting Schedule: Wednesday after third Tuesday of the month at 6 PM.
